The two major bodies representing game developers in Australia, the Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (IGEA) and the Game Developers’ Association of Australia (GDAA) will merge forming one organisation after a vote from GDAA members last night.
IGEA will purchase the assets of the GDAA and will take over the running of The Arcade, a co-working space in Melbourne, and the Game Connect Asia Pacific (GCAP) conference held in Melbourne in October.
IGEA CEO Ron Curry in a statement said “We thank the GDAA Board and their members for placing their trust in us to continue to deliver a strong and representative association to advocate and educate on behalf of our industry. We welcome Ceri and Sav to our team, along with many new members to the association."
“With numerous issues under management and a larger member base, the IGEA Board along with the GDAA Board are undertaking a strategic review in the second week of April. It is incredibly important that we deliver value for both our long-standing and new members, while continuing our work for the wider industry. With an expanded team and new challenges, we are very excited for the future.”
